What is the School Sale?

The School Sale is CVC’s biggest annual fundraiser!

Last year, we were able to raise over $800,000! It typically takes place in April, and this year, it is on April 19, 2024. It is a school-wide event that includes a silent and live auction. The swim team hosts a fundraiser dinner, and a few food trucks serve dessert throughout the night. The live auction is typically from 6-9 pm, and the silent auction starts online a day or two before the event and runs in person from 4-9 pm. All bidding for the silent auction is done online through BidPal, but the live auction is in-person bidding only.

The School Sale is a great night of fellowship and fun that benefits a school we all love. This event helps keep tuition low! It costs much more to educate our kids than we pay in tuition, and this is one of the ways that we can help make this possible! There are items for sale in every price range, and the beauty of this fundraiser is that you can purchase something you need or were already planning on buying, and the money goes to benefit CVC! Need a new BBQ? We have that! Are you planning a trip to the beach? Buy it at the sale! Need some new baby gear or sports equipment? Get it at the sale! Win-Win!

Making all of this happen takes a lot of people. See how you can volunteer below!

Ways to Volunteer

Donate items, goods, or services, large or small!
Anyone can donate any NEW item, service, or experience at ANY price point! We love the variety that streams in! A new vacuum, a fresh set of colored pencils, a weekend at Bass Lake, a barbeque, an Apple watch, and electric bikes are just a small selection of the hundreds of items you’ll see at the Sale.

Too busy to get to the store? Pop over to our Amazon Wishlist and consider a hassle-free donation! Your support from afar still works wonders!

To make a donation (an item, experience, or monetary contribution), please contact CVCSchoolSale@gmail.com. These items can be dropped off at CVC beginning in early April, but if you have a donation you would like to bring earlier, just let us know, and we can arrange to store it until the sale!

Be a Solicitor
These are volunteers who go out into the community and contact businesses and individuals who have donated in the past or who they have a relationship with and ask for donations for the sale. They collect donations and get them to CVC the week of the sale. Having Solicitors is critical, as over half of our donations come this way!

Be a “Friends of CVC” Shopper
To ensure we get enough items to fill the tables, we organize some people to commit to shopping for and donating 10-15 silent auction items of your choice. (Anyone and everyone are encouraged to bring in items, but we know we can count on these prearranged people to fill our tables!) These items can be any category, price range, or size. The donation is anonymous and gets entered as “Friends of CVC.” If you are willing to do this, we would greatly appreciate it! We have already started shopping, so it’s never too early! Of course, you can bring your items in without letting us know, too, if you prefer!

If you need ideas for donations, take a look at our Amazon Wishlist for inspiration!

Help with Assembly and Staging
During the whole week of the sale, we have an army of helpful men and women making the magic happen. They work on setting up the tables in pleasing ways, wrapping and making gift baskets, and assembling items. This is a fun and social volunteer position and is a great way to serve CVC if you have just a few hours!

Provide Lunch for Volunteers
We would like to provide lunch for our volunteers as a thank you to everyone who shows up and gives their time and effort. If you would like to donate lunch for 15-25 people, we would appreciate it!

Cleanup and Getting Items to Their Owner
Most items go home with their new owner the night of the sale, but after the sale, we need to ensure unclaimed items get to their owners. We need volunteers to wait with unclaimed items, ensuring everyone receives their correct items during pickup. This position takes a little effort, so naturally, we need people to help make that happen!
