Central Valley Christian Schools Plans School Start for September 2020
CVC to offer hybrid learning for families
Visalia, Calif.: Central Valley Christian Schools announced the details of its learning plan for enrolled students and families on Thursday, August 20. As CVC awaits its waiver to be approved by the Tulare County Health Department, CVC will operate within the California Department of Health’s Guidance on Operating Day Camps to allow an enriched learning experience through a combination of in-person and distance learning. This model will commence on September 8 and will be reassessed in early October to make any needed improvements.
“We are social beings and crave the interaction that in-person school provides. This Day Camp model provides the in-person contact we all want,” said Larry Baker, CVCS Superintendent. “At the same time, by keeping cohorts small, and implementing health precautions like masks and distancing, [the plan] shows respect and care for the larger community in which we live.”
CVC’s new learning model includes the following highlights:
- Distance learning will be on Mondays and any time when students are home on school days
- Cohorts/groups of 13 or fewer students will be formed
- High school student cohorts will be organized according to student schedules
- Elementary and middle school cohorts will be organized according to grade level
- Masks or face shields are required for staff and students
- Elementary and Middle School will run a morning and afternoon session with half of each grade
level attending one session each day, Tuesday through Friday - High school students will be on campus either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday with his/her
cohort for instruction outdoors or in large spaces to allow for proper distancing - High school students will have synchronous learning and/or on-campus
tutoring/instruction, by appointment on Fridays - Families may opt for Independent Study if desired
- The original CVC re-entry plan will be followed any time students are on campus
