35th Anniversary Celebrations: The Alumni Tailgate
In case you couldn’t keep track of everything happening during the busiest weekend at CVC, the CVC blog is here to bring you the update.
After an energy-filled Grandparent’s Day at the elementary, a bustling Fall Festival (a BIG thanks to Mother’s Club!), and right before the big homecoming game and king and queen reveal was the first ever Alumni Tailgate.
As part of the year of celebration for CVC’s 35 anniversary, CVC grad and current CVC teacher Tara (De Haan) Bosma spearheaded the effort for the tailgate:
“We needed something relaxed, open and convenient for fellow alumni to get together…what better way to actually see fellow alumni on homecoming weekend than a tailgate on the baseball field right next to the game?”
About 75 alumni attended the event and enjoyed music, a custom timeline banners of all CVC football teams, corn hole and other lawn games, a photo booth, a CVC gear raffle and free noisemakers for the homecoming game. Additionally, kids were able to get their face painted in blue and white.
“Many kids came and were excited to get ‘spirited out’, including ‘CVC’ painted on their chests to cheer for the game!” said Bosma, who also manned the face painting booth.
“My favorite part of the tailgate was seeing the CVC spirit in the children of the alumni,” said CVC grad and current teacher Stacey Soerens. “Many of the kids where decked out in face paint ready to cheer on the CVC Football team!”
Attending alumni ranged in grad year from 1990 to 2013 and enjoyed reconnecting.
“It was great to see alums from many different years, and it was especially fun to have the photo session where you held up your graduating year,” added Soerens.
Alumnus Kurt Saltzman also said he enjoyed seeing old friends.
Here’s to tailgates, alumni, and CVC’s 35th anniversary!
